What is the entry age limit for Atal Pension Yojana (APY)?

Any Indian citizen between 18 and 40 years of age can enroll in the Atal Pension Yojana. Contributions continue until you attain 60 years of age, at which point the guaranteed monthly pension begins.

Can income tax payers enroll in Atal Pension Yojana?

As per the Ministry of Finance notification effective from 1st October 2022, any citizen who is or has been an income tax payer under the Income Tax Act is not eligible to join APY.

What happens to the APY corpus after the subscriber passes away?

Upon the demise of the subscriber, the same monthly pension is paid to the spouse for life. After the demise of both subscriber and spouse, the entire accumulated pension wealth (up to ₹8.5 Lakhs for a ₹5,000 slab) is returned to the designated nominee.
