Year-by-Year Growth Table
Mutual fund investments are subject to market risks. The expected return rate is an assumed annualized rate of return (CAGR) for estimation purposes and is not guaranteed.
Frequently Asked Questions
Practical guidance on goal-based SIP planning, reverse compounding, and annual step-up strategies.
How is the required monthly SIP calculated for a target corpus?
The calculator solves the future value of annuity formula in reverse: P = Remaining Target / [(((1 + i)^n - 1) / i) × (1 + i)], where i is the monthly interest rate and n is the total months. If you have an initial lumpsum, its compounded future value is first subtracted from the target.
How does an annual step-up reduce my initial required SIP?
By increasing your SIP contribution by 5% to 10% each year as your income grows, your initial required monthly investment is significantly lower than a fixed monthly SIP, making ambitious targets like ₹1 Crore achievable earlier in your career.
Are returns guaranteed in mutual fund SIPs?
No. Mutual fund investments are subject to market volatility. The expected annual return rate (such as 12% or 15%) is an assumed compounding growth benchmark used for financial planning, not a guaranteed return.
